Flathead fishing can be unpredictable, and on this solo fishing trip in the Fusion 19 centre console I put four different lure styles to the test to see what would get the fish biting!
I headed out around two hours before low tide and started working some of my favourite flathead lures. Despite trying different presentations and lure styles, absolutely NOTHING worked for the first part of the session.
Then, around low tide… everything changed! 🎣🔥
For around half an hour I started catching flathead after flathead. What made the session even more interesting was that the fish would only take 2 of the 4 lure styles I used while fishing. The common factor? Both successful lures were working close to and touching the bottom!
Does this prove that fishing the bottom is the key to catching flathead around low tide? Or was it simply the tide changing the behaviour of the fish?
