Over the years my wife and I have visited and stayed on K’gari – Fraser Island as a couple and of course over the last decade as a family of four. Sailfish on Fraser is located at Happy Valley and offers a number of self contained 2 bedroom apartments across its double storey complex. It is ideal for families and large groups. Or, as you can see in the YouTube video below, a couple of blokes on a fishing trip!
2. Camping at Sandy Cape – Beach Camping Zone 9 – Diray and Carree: Camping Bliss.
For the more adventurous, camping at Sandy Cape offers an unforgettable outdoor experience. Situated in beach camping zones 9 – Diray and Carree, this camping spot offers a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in K’Gari’s wilderness.
We undertook our Sandy Cape adventure when our boys were much younger. Armed with a four person tent and a Weber Q. It is an experience we absolutely loved but does take a bit of planning. The sheer isolation offered by this location is what is so attractive we believe. If you are looking for a unforgettable camping experience, then this option is for you.
3. Blissful Banksia Villa 534 – Kingfisher Bay Resort – K’gari – Fraser Island
Nestled on K’gari’s western side, Kingfisher Bay Resort is a renowned echo resort that beautifully merges luxury with nature. Previously known as Eurong Beach Resort, K’gari Beach Resort should be considered a accommodation option, especially if you’re seeking a family-friendly experience. Nestled on K’gari’s eastern side, this resort offers versatile accommodation options, ranging from cosy hotel rooms to larger double room apartments. K’gari Beach Resort is a hub of activities, from thrilling four-wheel-drive tours to relaxing fishing expeditions. And, watch out for the friendly local goannas when eating lunch!
