Trolling For Flathead
Trolling for fish is certainly nothing new, but personally, I have always found trolling for fish, dead set boring. I am not talking about high speed trolling offshore for species such as mackerel. I am talking about trolling around the estuary, in creeks, along the edges of shallow sandbars and ledges. Staring for hours at…

Pause For Effect – Slow Down To Get The Bite!
Fishing is a constant learning experience. At least that is the way I look at it, and I am sure I am not alone. I also find fishing to be a great ‘leveller’. Bringing us back down to earth with a harsh lesson or two at exactly the moment you don’t expect it. But importantly,…

A New Fishing Lure Retrieve – Rush, Rush, Hop, Hop!

Fishing Patterns
I receive quite a few messages through my Fish That Snag Facebook page from people seeking information for using soft and hard body lures. Usually their questions relate to the style of retrieves to use while targeting a certain species of fish or when using a certain lure type. Almost always, I refer them to…

Surface Fishing Addiction
Picture This… Picture this in your mind. It is early morning. The first rays of sunlight are slowly reaching over the horizon. There is the slightest chill in the air & you are standing on the front casting deck of your boat. It is still. There is not a ripple on the water surrounding you….
